From Bioengineering to SAP: A Journey of Transformation
I'm Betul, the founder of ERPTOREN. My journey began with a core belief: SAP training shouldn't just be theoretical. It needs to be practical, accessible, and truly career-transforming.
ERPTOREN was born from my own experiences navigating the complex world of enterprise software.
My Background
My journey didn't begin in the world of IT. I earned my degree in Bioengineering from Firat University in Elazig, Turkiye, focusing intensely on clinical research and detailed data analysis.
For 5 years, I thrived in the lab, immersing myself in biological data. Yet, a growing desire for a faster-paced environment and the chance to make a more direct business impact began to steer my career aspirations.
The Career Switch
The turning point arrived subtly. While I enjoyed the scientific rigor of bioengineering, I craved a more dynamic field where my analytical skills could translate into immediate, tangible business solutions. I found myself drawn to complex system optimization problems, which surprisingly aligned with concepts I encountered during clinical data analysis.
In 2012, after extensive research and conversations with contacts in the tech industry, a mentor in enterprise software consulting introduced me to the world of SAP. The opportunity to work at the intersection of business processes and technology, solving real-world challenges for global companies, was incredibly appealing. This led me to pursue formal SAP certifications, dedicating countless hours to learning the intricacies of the system.
This was a significant "leap of faith," not just a career change but a profound personal transformation. As an immigrant, I navigated language barriers and cultural adaptation, moving from my home in Turkey to working in demanding international consulting environments.
It was an intimidating yet exhilarating experience, mastering a complex new career while adapting to new customs and communication styles.
Discovering the Problem
My first major project at Deloitte, implementing SAP S/4HANA for a global pharmaceutical client, laid bare a critical gap. Even certified junior consultants struggled with practical tasks—from setting up complex processes to fixing integration issues that were never covered in textbooks.
It was frustrating to witness bright minds falter due to a stark lack of hands-on experience with actual business scenarios, practical project methodologies, and essential client communication. There was a clear, urgent need for training that simulated real projects and focused on practical problem-solving. This gap led to project delays and increased costs, primarily because teams lacked these vital skills.
The Turning Point
The idea for ERPTOREN crystalized during a chaotic "go-live" phase in 2018. It was 2 AM, the war room thick with tension and the smell of stale coffee. The client's CEO paced anxiously, demanding updates as their new SAP system, critical for the global supply chain, experienced intermittent data synchronization failures. Purchase orders weren't reaching vendors, and critical inventory levels were frozen.
Junior team members, fresh from certification courses, stared blankly at error logs, completely overwhelmed. I remember one young consultant, almost in tears, asking, "Betul, what's a posting key again? My course never covered real-time troubleshooting." I found myself constantly explaining basic concepts like the difference between a GL account and a cost center, or how to trace a document flow in a system that was supposed to be fully operational. The pressure was immense. This high-stakes, real-time crisis, where foundational elements needed constant explanation, vividly illustrated the need for practical, relevant SAP education.
Why ERPTOREN Exists
I realized I could bridge this critical gap. I envisioned a curriculum that meticulously followed the actual project lifecycle, prioritizing real problem-solving, and teaching the exact skills employers demand from day one.
That is precisely why ERPTOREN exists today. We guide learners like you through intensive, hands-on training, immerse you in real-life scenarios, and foster a supportive community.
